Airports Company South Africa (SOC) Limited has a mandate to build, operate and manage airports within South Africa. It was formed in 1993 and is majority owned by the South African government through the Department of Transport. It is legally and financially autonomous, and is governed by the Airports Acts of 1993. Airports Company South Africa has a network of nine airports, three are international gateways: O.R. Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport, and six regional airports: Port Elizabeth International Airport, Upington International Airport, George Airport, Bram Fischer International Airport, Kimberly Airport, East London Airport. Within South Africa, Airports Company South Africa has built airports with the combined capacity of 54 500 million passengers.
